The kits are designed for kids aged 5–12, but can be adapted for younger or older students with adult guidance. You may need to blow up some of the activities to A3 size if the kids are still developing fine motor skills.
This kit is designed for Australian waste systems specifically, so it will likely not be suitable for families and educators internationally. However, it could be adapted if you were keen to try.
Each kit includes:
An introduction to waste management, plus tips for adults to help children sort their rubbish correctly.
Templates and guidance for setting up your own waste inspections at home or at school.
Posters to colour in, along with short descriptions of the Waste Guardians to help children remember what goes in each bin.
Goal-setting templates and practical ideas to encourage better waste habits.
Fun, hands-on activities that help children learn how to sort rubbish and connect with the materials waste is made from.
Home Kit: For families to help children learn about waste and take action at home.
Classroom Kit: For one educator to use with their own class or group of students.
School Kit: Covers multiple classes and supports whole-school use.
You don’t need to be an expert. The kits guide you through activities, but it’s important to check your local council’s rules as recycling and composting can vary by area.
You will receive a digital PDF but the activities, posters and templates will need to be printed for use.

I would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of Country across this continent. I pay my deepest respects to Elders past and present. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are the original storytellers, educators, and change makers of Country. For generations, they have been on the frontlines in the fight for justice, truth, and sovereignty. Sovereignty has never been ceded. This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
